10 Ways To Avoid Holiday Weight Gain

10 - Host your own party

Hosting your own party means you gain control over what's available and what isn't. Anything ultra calorific you can avoid like the plague and keep off the list altogether. When you're in control you can keep temptation at bay. Also, you'll be so busy being the perfect host or hostess you won't even have time for pampering to your cravings. Avoid including things like fatty cheeses, fried foods and fatty crisps. Instead, if you are hosting your own party, you can ensure foods are baked instead of fried, always the healthy option, and introduce more healthy offerings such as grilled chicken and French style crudités with celery and carrot sticks along with low fat dips like vinaigrette. Peanuts are fine, but avoid the salted variety and go for roasted almonds and pecans. When you host your own party you can decide what goes on the plate ensuring minimum weight gain.

9 - Keep moving

Physical activity is one of the best things you can possibly do to lose and also maintain a healthy weight. You don't have to join the gym (but it would certainly help), but just taking a brisk walk every day can work wonders. Get up early if you have to. It's a great sensation to be up before everyone else and get that blood pumping through your body by means of a determined perambulation. Maybe take a walk before dinner too. Break into a sweat if you can, and if possible jog, but certainly walk briskly. But even if your so out of practice that even a brisk walk seems like an ordeal, you can start by engaging in some physical activity round the home such as simply setting up the table, or even cleaning up after dinner. It all counts. And, of course, the more absorbed you are in physical activity of any kind, the less likely you are to be snacking. So keep those pounds off by staying active.
