Female Body Types: Dress To Make The Most Of Your Shape.

Choosing the right outfit is about much more than just selecting something you like, in your size. In fact, one of the most important aspects is finding clothes that work with the shape of your body, accentuating your best features and drawing attention away from parts you are less confident about.
The vast majority of women's bodies can be described as being one of the following nine shapes. Once you have identified your body type, it is simply a case of understanding how to make the most of it and avoiding clothes which are unflattering - even if they look great on other people.

Body Shape #1: The Hourglass

The hourglass body shape is characterised by a full bust, wide hips, large thighs, a rounded bottom and its most defining feature, a small waist. Generally, the waist will be short, while shoulders may be average or slightly on the broad side. Examples of people with an hourglass figure include Marilyn Monroe, Kim Kardashian and Salma Hayek.
In order to make the most of this body type, you should look to draw attention to your neckline and shoulders, while wearing a supportive bra, which lifts the bust and defines the waist. Fitted styles are ideal and, indeed, a fitted v-neck cardigan and pencil skirt is one of the classic and most effective looks. Low and wide necklines work well, while straight shapes should be avoided, as they hide the waist. Turtle necks and other high neckline styles are also a no-no. If you are wearing jeans, you should opt for clean and simple styles, such as classic boot cut, and stay away from narrowing legs.
