The 10 Fastest Cars In The World

Hold onto your hats – and everything else for that matter because we’re talking about the fastest cars on the planet. Their speed and six and seven-figure price tags is enough to make your eyes water.
Fast cars are on most guys’ wish list, but unless you’re in the super rich bracket you’ll just have to settle for ogling them at motor shows, in glossy photos and in the movies. Out of all the jaw-dropping beauties, what are the fastest in the world? Here’s a list of the top 10 fastest production models. That means the fastest street legal cars available on the market. Modified cars, racers and one-off custom models aren’t included – only cars that can legally carry a license plate. And the list isn’t without some controversy.

1. Hennessey Venom GT: 270 mph

What? I hear Bugatti fans scream. I did say there was some controversy. Texas-based Hennessey claimed a new production record with a speed of 270.49mph in 2014, beating the previous titleholder, the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, by just 0.63mph. However, the Guinness Book of World Records doesn’t recognise the American automaker’s attempt because the speed was recorded on NASA’s 3.2 mile Space Shuttle landing runway in Florida after only a one-way run. The 10 Fastest Cars In The World To be classed as legitimate, the attempt must be in each direction with an average taken to account for wind conditions. NASA only allowed the Venom to do one run, so Bugatti is still technically the fastest. The Venom does 0-60mph in 2.5 seconds, has a 7-litre twin-turbo V8 engine producing a whopping 1244 horsepower. No surprise that it comes with a mind-blowing price tag of over $1,000,000.
